5 Easy ways to earn more with Instawork

One of the things that Instawork Pros love about the app? The money! When businesses urgently need staff, they'll pay a premium for quality workers. Because of this, you can often earn more on Instawork than other workplaces.

But even besides the above-average pay rates, there are tons of ways you can make cash on Instawork. Here are a few of the top tips for bringing in more money.

Option 1

1. Become a Top Pro

At Instawork, we believe in rewarding the hard work of Pros like you. Top-notch Professionals are the heart of our company, and we want them to work with us again and again. That's why we created our Top Pro program, which offers exclusive perks to the best Pros on our platform.

Each month, Pros who work a certain number of shifts without cancelling or skipping, and receive high ratings, qualify for the Top Pro program. The Top Pro program has four levels — Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum — with more benefits available the higher you go. This includes rewards like:

  • Early access to shifts, so you get first dibs on the best posts

  • Profile badges that help you stand out to employers

  • Instapay, a feature that allows you to get paid within hours of finishing a job

  • The ability to become a Shift Lead, a role that comes with higher pay

  • Additional bonuses

  • Invites to special events

  • Having your name entered into our monthly prize drawings

  • And more!

Our reward program may evolve over time, but we'll always reward our Pros as best we can. Click here to learn about different Top Pro levels, requirements, rewards, and more.

2. Access more shifts

Becoming a Top Pro isn’t the only way to get better access to shifts. Pros that are consistent, reliable, and on time are more likely to get "Favorited" by businesses, which unlocks more shifts on our app.

Here’s all you have to do:

  • Show up to each shift you book

  • Arrive on time & ready to go

  • Avoid cancellations, & give advanced notice if you do have to cancel

We understand, though, that life can sometimes get in the way of work. So if something urgent forces you to skip or cancel a shift at the last minute, submit an appeal to our support team. If everything checks out, you can avoid penalties.

3. Refer new Pros

Instawork is growing fast. In fact, the number of shifts available today is more than 8x higher than it was two years ago! To keep up with that demand, we always need new skilled, hardworking Professionals. We know that great Pros know other great people, and our referral program rewards you for introducing them to the app.

To refer someone, open the Instawork app, click on your profile, then click “Refer a friend” in the upper left corner. From there, you have a few different ways to invite others:

  • Have someone scan the QR code that appears on your screen

  • Copy the link below the QR code to share it with your network

  • Scroll down and click “Invite from contacts” to text a link to anyone in your contact list

Once your referral signs up for and completes a gig, you’ll receive your reward. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your referrals. You can promote your referral link in an Instagram story, on a flyer, or even in a Youtube video. Check out one great example below!

4. Understand pricing

Businesses sometimes pay more depending on when and where a shift takes place. If you step up in those situations, you’ll often receive higher pay. Shifts tend to pay more when they’re:

  • Outside of a city center: When a shift is harder to get to, businesses may pay more to make up for the extra time and money it takes to get there.

  • Scheduled at a peak time. Shifts scheduled for a busy time like the weekend or holidays may offer more pay to attract workers.

If you have a car and are willing to work on weekends or holidays, you can take advantage of some big pay bumps.

5. Uplevel your skills

The more skills and certificates you have, the more roles you qualify for. If you usually wash dishes, for example, but want to be a server as well, you’ll need to get a food handlers card. You can also train up on warehouse basics, picking and packing, and more to impress businesses looking for warehouse workers.

Some certificates, like forklift certificates and alcohol certificates, qualify you for higher-paying jobs. You’ll have to pay for these certificates out of pocket, but you can usually make up the difference (and more!) pretty quickly.

If you pay $150 for online bartending school, for example, but earn an extra $5 per hour as a bartender versus a barback and an extra $50 in tips per shift, you’ll only have to work two five-hour shifts to make up the difference.

At many jobs, your salary is pretty fixed. If you’re scheduled for 20 hours a week at $12 an hour, you probably won’t be making any more than $240 a week. But with Instawork, you can work as many or as few shifts as you want to hit your personal income goals. And when you learn how to access more shifts, find the best-paying ones, take advantage of our Top Pro and referral programs, and build new skills, you can earn even more. Now that you know some of the insider tips for making more money on Instawork, it’s time to jump into action. Sign up for shifts today!
