4 Ways to promote your referral link (& earn a bonus!)

You know that you can earn money on Instawork by picking up a shift. But did you also know that you can earn money by referring new Pros to Instawork?

Just open the app and click “Refer a Friend” in the upper left-hand corner. Then, you can invite the contacts in your phone or share your referral QR code or link on other apps. If anyone using your link/code signs up for Instawork and picks up a shift, we’ll give you a bonus!

But if you really want to grab people’s attention, a more creative approach can help your referral stand out.

Need some ideas? Here are a few ways to share your link that will help generate interest and hopefully, earn you some extra cash.

1. Post to online groups & forums

There are a ton of people on social media platforms looking for work, and Facebook is one great place to find them. If you enter the name of your city and words like “jobs” or “hiring” in the Facebook groups search, chances are you’ll find multiple groups filled with people looking for jobs. Here are some examples:

In your post, talk about how you’ve been working on Instawork and what you like about it. Don’t forget to include a referral link! Respond to any comments that people leave, and encourage people to PM you if they have any questions. It’s a great way to build trust and address any concerns they might have.

Reddit also has groups (called subreddits) filled with people searching for jobs. A few examples include r/BeerMoney, r/GigWork, and  r/FindaPath. Some subreddits ban referral codes, though, so check the community rules first. You will probably have better luck commenting on a thread where someone mentions looking for work or needing extra money than just posting your referral link.

Another good place to drop your referral code through a post or reply is Craigslist’s jobs section. You can also try NextDoor, which is a social media platform for neighborhoods and local communities.

2. Share with your social circle

Are you a member of a club, team, or other organization? Do you attend classes, or go to a school? If so, it’s worth reaching out to others there. You probably already see people asking each other for help, which gives you a natural way to bring up Instawork.

And don't forget to reach out to your friends and family! If you know someone that is looking for work or wants some extra money, they will probably be extra interested in hearing about Instawork.

But you can share your referral link more broadly, too. The next time you're hanging out with friends at a game night or happy hour, try telling them about Instawork. If they’re interested, you can take out your phone right there and pull up your QR code for them to scan. Easy!

3. Post on social media

Lots of Pros have luck promoting their referral code on social media. One of the best ways to grab attention is to post a screenshot of your most recent earnings. People like to see proof! Just don’t forget to include your link in the post description.

Try adding your referral link to your profile, too. Again, you may want to add something like”PM me for details” in case people have questions.

Another surefire way to stand out is with a video. Lots of Pros have promoted their referral codes through videos on TikTok, Youtube, and Instagram.

Here’s another from Youtube:

This video does a great job:

  • Giving an honest review of the app
  • Offering a real look into her workplace (while on break!)
  • Mentioning same-day pay

At the end of the day, you don’t need fancy equipment or advanced editing skills to make a good video. Just be real, share what you love about Instawork, and direct viewers to the link in your description or bio.

4. Post flyers

Odds are, lots of places you visit on a day-to-day basis are filled with people interested in earning extra cash, like:

  • Grocery stores
  • Laundromats
  • Gyms
  • Restaurants

Many of these places have a community bulletin board where residents can advertise events, services, items for sale, and more. In some cities, you can also hang notices like these on telephone poles around town (it’s best to check first!). By posting flyers in high-traffic areas, you can reach beyond your existing network to your surrounding community.

If you do create a poster, make sure it has:

  • A compelling headline
  • A call-to-action (like “visit this link”)
  • Your QR referral code on it, so people can easily scan it with their phone
