Employee Spotlight: Dominique Harris, Senior Manager, Community Operations

Our mission at Instawork is to create economic opportunities for local businesses and professionals, globally. In order to achieve that mission, we have built a team composed of talented and hard-working individuals who are passionate about connecting skilled hourly professionals with local businesses who need their services.

Our Employee Spotlight series takes the opportunity to highlight members of our team and to give a glimpse into our culture and what it’s like to work at Instawork. To highlight the diversity of our team, we’ve asked Dominique Harris, Senior Manager of Community Operations, to share more about her experience working at Instawork.

What do you do at Instawork and how long have you been with the company?

I’ve been managing the support and operations team at Instawork since March of 2020.

What initially attracted you to Instawork?

I have worked in both the hospitality and technology industries throughout my career. Instawork is a great intersection of my professional experiences and I was excited at the opportunity to bring those experiences together in a unique way.

More importantly, our mission to provide economic opportunities for businesses and hourly professionals resonates with me deeply. I am a big believer that everyone deserves a chance to succeed and I am always looking for an opportunity to help someone achieve their personal and professional goals.

What's your favorite part of your job?

My aspiration in life is to serve others, so I’m fortunate to lead a team at Instawork that focuses on making a difference in the communities we serve. I am responsible for helping each member of my team develop their professional skill set while guiding our team’s collective success.

Being part of a team that is able to use their previous experiences and growing skill set to make an impact in communities across the country is “meta” for me and very fulfilling. It’s great.

What is one piece of “work from home” equipment you couldn’t live without?

My laptop stand(s). I have a couple of stands that help me stay in an ergonomic position, which helps keep me alert.

What's the most important thing you've learned since starting at Instawork?

Embracing ambiguity, viewing challenges as opportunities, and maintaining an optimistic, solution-oriented paradigm is critical. It’s a daily effort, but learning to exercise this mentality has helped me become a better leader, a more constructive co-worker, and I enjoy my work significantly more.

In 10 words or less, how would you describe the culture at Instawork?

Our values are demonstrated every day by everyone.
